Make no mistake about it – I’m a local business owner just like you.

And…just like you I needed more phone calls, more leads and ultimately more business just to stay “in business”.

I tried print advertising, radio ads, TV commercials, direct mail, even the dreaded Yellow Pages – I tried them all, and the results were less than spectacular.

Actually I’m being nice; the results sucked – and I’m willing to bet you’ve had the exact same or similar experience.

I thought to myself; “what the hell DOES work?” – and I set out on a journey to get this “handled” in my business once and for all; no matter what – I was going to find a real source of leads, calls and more business from the internet if it killed me.

However, I’m not a gambling man so I hedged my business success by first getting a college degree and then every aircraft/pilot rating known to man – believing the jobs rated almanac (published in 1987) which said that “Airline Pilots Make $250K Per Year With 20 Days Off Per Month” – sounded like a dream job to me.

And a “J.O.B” it turned out to be (you’ve heard the saying, JOB stands for  Just Over Broke) – so the day I got my first “flying” job I went to work building my real passion – which was having my own local business, with ME as the boss.

How Is My Business Just Like Yours?

I started by writing a “How To” book and began advertising in every medium possible; the results were a lot of cost and not a lot of profit – until…I got this hair brained idea to build a website in 1994 and begin selling my “book” online.

I started getting orders much to my amazement from all over the world – even more shocking was the fact that shipping my book worldwide was eating all of my profits (and more) because I hadn’t anticipated the cost of international shipping (yes, a rookie mistake).

Now, instead of shutting down my website until I could figure out international shipping rates I thought, why not just increase my price to some astronomical figure ($100+ at the time, for a book none the less) and that would certainly slow down orders until I could get the shipping costs figured out.

The orders kept coming in; even faster and much to my amazement people from all over the world were willing to pay $100+ for a book I wrote on “How To Start Your Own Business” – pretty ironic how I wrote a book on something I hadn’t really done myself, however it was working and I was using the internet as my only advertising source.

I Found Success And Then Sold Out…

I began making other offers to my customer list and from that created a wholesale products company (yes, a real world physical products company) with a massive online membership and multiple U.S. locations which I eventually sold in 1996 for 7 figures; and at the same time I retired from commercial airline flying forever, promising myself that I’ll never “work” again.

Retirement lasted a year – then I got bored (hey I was only 38 years old at the time) so I decided to take all that I had learned about “internet marketing”, “online lead generation” and “social media” – and begin sharing it with “other” local business owners who I knew could us it.

Then, I Started Sharing What I Had Learned With Others…Just Like You

The first company I helped was a local LASIK Eye Surgeon who we took from 4.3M/Year to over 17M/Year in under 3 years; using only the internet and internet marketing techniques as the main advertising methods.

I went on to help dozens of other “local” businesses get a foot hold in the search engines which equated to more leads, more phone calls and more business – and that  is exactly what my consulting “motto” is to this day.
